Mr.Mainguy graduated in electrical engineering and computer science from l’École de Technologie Supérieure de Montréal, one of the two largest engineering schools in Canada. For a while considered the “oddity” in the Québec university ecosystem, it metamorphosed in the last 25 years into one of the best technical universities in North America, winning a considerable number of prizes and awards. Its flexible internship coop programs were the trademark from the inception, and the investments of the last decade in research and graduate programs set the path to a promising future. PRAGMA is a proud partner of the NDT research lab at ÉTS. Mr.Mainguy makes regular donations to the Fonds de développement de l’ÉTS ( FDÉTS).
PRAGMA is an official sponsor of the college tennis team Les Élans, of the Cégep Garneau. PRAGMA has employees playing tennis, and it’s a sport with great values dear to Mr.Mainguy like fairplay, self-determination, respect of competitors, and a form of modesty and silence while working really really hard. Pete Sampras, the great American champion and discrete gentleman, once said “I let my racquet do the talking”. PRAGMA follows the same mentality as “we let our technology do the talking”.
Since 2007, Mr.Mainguy is funding awards given to outstanding high-school students that show excellence and contagious passion for science, technology and math. The goal of the awards is to encourage them to continue a career in STEM. One award is provided to students of secondary school levels 1 and 2, and another award for levels 3, 4, and 5. The awards are presented at the Gala des Cervelets d’Or, at the École Secondaire Donnacona, the high school that Mr.Mainguy attended.
